Jags look to regain the initiative

Partick Thistle boss Alan Archibald said he wants to build on the team’s away record when they face St Johnstone on Saturday.

The Firhill outfit have won two of their last three away games and Archibald wants more of the same on their travels.

He said: “We have had two away victories so far and only lost one of our games against Motherwell back in August.

“We need to build on this. It’s something I know the team can do, as long as they take the opportunities they create.

Against St Johnstone Archibald said the main danger would come from their strikers Nigel Hasselbaink and Stevie May.

He added: “As long as we don’t give them too much space we will be ok. We need to close them down and dominate the game at the same time as creating the opportunities to scorer.”

Meanwhile Stuart Bannigan, who is currently out injured because of a knee injury, was voted player of the month for August.
