Jags kick off league campaign against Falkirk

PARTICK THISTLE arE looking forward to kicking off the new Irn-Bru First Division campaign when it starts this Saturday.

The Firhill side have a tough home game against Falkirk, who finished third in the league last season.

Jags manager Jackie McNamara (above) said he felt the squad were up to the challenge and had the momentum behind them following recent victories in the Challenge Cup and League Cup.

He said:“We’ve started the season well with two wins out of two in the cups so we want to keep that going in the league.”

And he added: “The league is your bread and butter and we want to make sure we get off to a good start because it’s going to be as tight as ever.

“We couldn’t have a harder start than Falkirk, but the boys are all feeling confident after the last couple of results.”

Meanwhile, Partick Thistle’s players have been hitting the phones in a bid to attract fans back to Firhill.

Conrad Balatoni, Sean Welsh and James Craigen got on the blower to urge supporters to snap up a season ticket.
