Inverness trip proves to be a successful one for Milngavie swimmers

Twelve members of Milngavie and Bearsden Swimming Club built on their successful outing at the Ren96 open meet a couple of weeks ago when they went to Inverness for the first round of the Scottish Grand Prix series.

Julie Williams and Greg Watson finalled in 50m backstroke on night one. Pbs also came from Mx Burns (50bc) and Ewan Christie (50bc).

Saturday morning saw further pbs from Georgia Lynch (200im), Emily Brown (200br/50br), Ciaran Johnson (100fly), Greg Watson (100fly), Julie Williams (50br), Hannah Voute (50br) and Emily Tang (100bc).

Max Burns produced two excellent swims back to back in the afternoon session, with pbs in 200bc and 100br with only a matter of a few minutes in between them and the winners. Victoria Reid and Jess Black also swam to 100fc pbs to conclude the afternoon’s racing.

Julie Williams was Saturday’s only finalist, finishing third in the 100m backstroke B final.

Day three started with a best time from Greg Watson (200im), with Emily Tang (50fc), Max Burns (100bc, 200im), Ciaran Johnson (100fc,200im) and Georgia Lynch (100br) also swimming pb’s.

Sunday night saw the majority of the team depart prior to the finals session, but Victoria Reid stayed on to finish 6th in the 100m breaststroke B final.
