High School girls hockey champions for third year in a row

THE under 16 hockey squad from the High School of Glasgow won the Scottish U16 Hockey Championship for the third successive year beating Glasgow Academy 3-2 on penalities after a 1-1 full time score.

In a hard fought tournament over the past three months the girls were runners up in the West District Championships to reach the finals in Edinburgh last weekend. Glasgow Academy won the West District Championships to qualify aswell.

The tournament was a round robin format with the top two teams then playing in the final.

Results for the round robin were a nil nil draw against Watsonians, a 2-0 win against Strathallan, a 3-0 win against Kelso High School and another nil nil draw with Glasgow Academy.

The under sixteen squad included: Anna Cunningham (Captain) Milngavie, Annie Shields (Vice Captain) Glasgow, Erin Gilchrist (Vice Captain) Langbank, Zoe Westerduin Bearsden, Eilidh Ferguson Strathblane, Jodie Fraser Bearsden, Emily Crozier Bearsden, Carla Godsman Bearsden, Jasmine Aikman Erskine, Eleanor Gold Bearsden, Niamh Frizzell Bearsden, Cami Wells Milngavie, Millie Cunningham Milngavie, Cailtin Fleming Bearsden, Iona MacKillop Glasgow and Zoe Chu Glasgow.
