Harriers West District County Championship results

A TOTAL OF 36 members of Garscube Harriers turned out for the Scottish Athletics West District Cross Country Championships at Greenock on Saturday.

In the Senior Men’s 10000 metres race Ben Melby was first home in 17th place in 37mins 1sec followed by 29th Joe McKnight – 39:35, 31st Marco Consani – 39:47, 43rd Chris Devine – 40:50, 47th Alex Chalmers – 41:01, 60th Stephen Mulrine – 41:54, 70th John McLaughlin – 42:54, 74th Alex Chisholm – 43:04, 77th Danny Burns – 43:23, 81st Euan Geddes – 43:38, 95th Alan Blair – 44:18, 160th Andy Griffiths – 50:15, 183rd Tony Hall 53:43 and 198th Kieran McLaughlin – 1:01:38.

Lesley Chisholm finished in second place and was first vet to finish in 22mins 52secs in the Women’s 6400 metres race. Diane Clark was 20th in 26:23, Marian Kelly 26th in 27:02 and Emma Blair 42nd in 29:20. Catriona Graves won the Under 17 Women’s 5,000 metres race in 20mins 27secs, Georgia Callander came in 14th in 24:47 and Frances Brown 23rd in 25:07.

Darren McGowan finished in 47th position in 18:50 in the Under 15 Boys 4000 metres event, Owen Britton was 49th in 19:11 and Calum Esler 52nd in 20:01.

In the Under 15 Girls race over the same distance Eilidh Chapman finished 40th in 20:24 and Eilidh Gordon 53rd in 22:47. There were seven Garscube competitors in the Under 13 Boys 3200 metres. They were: 32nd Daniel McGarrie – 12:25, 36th Josh Irvine – 12:39, 47th Ross Chapman 13:05, 56th Craig Weston – 13:29, 58th Jack Cuthbertson – 13:39, 67th Finlay Currie – 15:00 and 69th Fergus Hempel – 15:46.

Finally in the Under 13 Girls 3200 metres race Beth Brown came in 44th in 14:27, Lorna Robertson 57th in 15:16 and Sophie Lathan 77th in 18:01.
