A group of Clydesdale Harriers’ senior members were out and about running some of the longer distance events recently.
In the Great Scottish Run, Alistair Greig ran well to finish in a time of 1hr 35.58mins/secs, followed by Bryan Powell (1.37.46), and Steve Docherty (1.39).
The Neil McCover Memorial Half Marathon also on the same day, but in Kirkintilloch and the surrounding areas over a hilly course, had Paul Carroll finishing in a time of 1.17.09, followed by Bobby Young (1.32.20).
A little further afield Robert O’Neill had an excellent run in the Mablethorpe Marathon to finish just outside his personal best time in 2.56.37.
Lastly four harriers travelled to Chester to run in the MBNA Chester Marathon. Over a slightly undulating course fastest was Kevin Farmer (3.12.53), followed by Marina McCallum (3.28.07), Evelyn McKee (4.13.03), and Stephen McKee (4.14.33). Also being run that day on some of the same course was the Metric Marathon (26.2km or 16.2 miles). Hugh Laverty had a solid run to finish in a time of 2.08.
Congratulations to Paul Carroll, Brian Campbell, Pete Cartwright, Bobby Young and Watson Jones who have all been selected for November’s British and Irish Masters Cross Country International which takes place this year in Nottingham.
