Goalless draw brings Thistle’s season to a close

It was a low-key end to an otherwise fantastic season for Thistle as they recorded a goalless draw away to Dumbarton in what were difficult windy conditions.

Both Steven Lawless and Christie Elliott tested Dumbarton early on by Jamie Ewings saved both efforts with ease.

On 27 minutes Sons midfielder Scott Agnew fired a low drive, but Thistle keeper Glenn Daniels made a great save.

Kris Doolan was then unlucky to see a volley fly into the arms of Ewing before Agnew hit the post on 67 minutes.

Thistle fought back and were unlucky when sub Chris Erskine had a shot cleared by Scott Smith.

Despite their best efforts Thistle could not break through a determined Dumbarton defence and had to settle for a single point.
