BEARSDEN teenager Gavin Haddow has won his way into the inaugural Scottish Student Sport Badminton College Finals.
The 19-year-old will represent Clydebank College when he takes to court at the end of February.
Gavin is currently studying HND Sports Coaching and occasionally teaches badminton in his spare time.
The youngster will now take his Christmas break to recuperate before kick starting preparations for the finals.
Gavin said: “I’m really pleased about getting through to the finals.
“It’s challenging to play against other experienced players but I find it really motivating too.
“I’m really enjoying my studies at Clydebank and when I finish next year I hope to continue my studies in a sports-related discipline at university.
“I’ve been interested in badminton from a young age so I’m glad I got the opportunity to represent the college at the competition and look forward to the next stage.”
The SSS competition was formally created last summer as a partnership between the sports-related units within Colleges and Universities across the country.
Gavin will be competing in the SSS National College Finals on February 29 at Ravenscraig in Motherwell.
