Garscube’s Goldie is the first Harrier over the line

Ten Garscube Harriers runners were in action in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Park recently.

Gary Goldie was the first to cross the finish line in 15th place in 18mins 28secs, followed by 32nd Scott McPherson - 19:44, 100th Kieran McLaughlin - 23:06, 106th Stephen Wilson - 23:31, 115th Peter Dow - 23:55 (race PB), 171st Stuart Irvine - 26:38, 219th Caroline Dow - 28:34, 228th Lorna Robertson - 29:08, 229th Derek Buchanan - 29:13 and 258th Andrew Bell - 30:41.

A total of 308 runners finished the race. 

Meanwhile three club members took part in the Babcock Marine Helensburgh Half Marathon on Sunday, August 7 which incorporated the Scottish Athletics West District Half Marathon Championships.

The race was won by Ben Melby in 1hr 13mins 30secs.

Garscube men came in 2nd in the Team Race with a total of 17 points.

Two Garscube Harriers ladies completed the Devil O’ The Highlands 43 Miles Ultra Distance Race along the West Highland Way from Tyndrum to Fort William on Saturday, August 6.

Debbie Martin-Consani was 2nd lady to finish in 13th place overall in a time of 6hrs 56mins 35secs and Sharon Law came in 7th lady in 24th place in 7:22.19. 116 runners finished.

Two Garscube Harriers runners were in action in the Falkirk Parkrun 5k race at Callendar Park on Saturday August 6 and both achieved race PBs.

Peter Dow finished in 66th place in a time of 25mins 2secs and Caroline Dow came in 102nd out of 156 runners in 28:58. 

Seven members of Garscube Harriers took part in the Tour of Clydeside Bella Belter 10k race at Cartha Queens Park Rugby Club on Friday, August 5.

John Murray was first home in 26th place in a time of 39 minutes 02 seconds followed by 28th Katie White (1st lady) - 39:13, 33rd Bobby Rossborough - 40:05, 39th Laura Devine - 40:45, 50th Craig Brown - 42:28, 53rd Kath Scott - 42:50 and 68th Alasdair Mackay - 45:21. 107 finished.

This was the final race in the 2011 Tour of Clydeside Series of Races.

Four members of Garscube Harriers completed the series.

Katie White was first lady in 11th place in a total time of 2 hours 05 minutes 9 seconds, John Murray was 12th in 2 hours 05 minutes 55 seconds, Craig Brown 23rd in 2:16:18 and Kath Scott 24th and 1st FV40 in 2:16:45. 35 athletes completed the series.
