FOUR Garscube members were in action in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park on Saturday.
Jill O’Neil was first to finish in 50th place in a time of 21mins 22secs followed by Alasdair Mackay 72nd in 22:26, a race personal best. Peter Dow was 109th in 24:17 and Stuart Irvine 147th in 26:28. A total of 283 finished.
Meanwhile three Garscube Harriers members turned out for the Scottish Veteran Harriers Club’s Open 5 Miles Road Race at Clydebank on Wednesday June 29.
Kirsty Husband was second lady to finish in 8th place overall in a time of 18mins 3 secs, Ali Winship was 20th in 19mins 15secs and Stevie Cullen came in 48th in 23:28. Fifty three finished.
The same evening two Garscube members competed in the Dunren Open Graded Meeting at the Linwood Sports Complex.
Stephen Mulrine finished in 5th place in the 2nd Heat of the 800 Metres in a time of 2mins 15.2seconds to be crowned the unchallenged Club’s Senior Men’s 2011 Track Champion over this distance.
Junior runner Rachel Busby set a personal best of 2mins 39.72secs winning the 6th heat of the 800 metres and was placed 5th in Heat 7 of the 100 Metres in 15.98 seconds.
In the SignPlus Dunfermline Half Marathon on Sunday June 26, Joe McKnight finished 16th in 1hrs 17mins 51secs and Frank Krievs came in 212th in 1hr 50mins 45secs. On the same day Garscube lady Rachel Stevenson finished in 134th place in the Lairig Ghru Hill Race over a distance of 42.7k with a climb of 640 metres. The race took place from Braemar to Aviemore and she competed the race in a time of 5hrs 35mins 20 secs.
Finally on Friday June 24 two club members competed in the Calderglen Harriers 10k Trail Race at East Kilbride.
Bobby Rossborough finished in 26th place in 43mins 55secs and Kath Scott was 1st lady vet over 45 in 46th place in 46:55. A total of 136 runners completed the course.
