Seventeeen Garscube ladies completed the Bupa Great Women’s 10k on Sunday.
Lesley Chisholm was first home in seventh place in 36 minutes 27 seconds followed by: 15th Katie White - 39:14, 30th Jill O’Neil - 41:17, 41st Diane Clark - 42:14, 44th Charlene McCallum - 42:19, 98th Laura Devine - 44:42, 126th Fiona MacCormick - 45:47, 207th Isobel Martin - 47:39, 346th Lynette Harkins - 49:26, 499th Mary Cox - 50:53, 1110st Emma Blair - 54:49, 2021st Mhairi McCallum - 59:09, 2146th Morag Casey - 59:46, 2327th Heather McKillop - 1:00:31, 2328th Anita Neilson - 1:00:31, 3256th Karen-Anne McLennan - 1:05:48, 3614th Joan Morris - 1:08:11. Meanwhile four Garscube members competed in the Glasgow parkrun 5k race the previous day. Results were: 93rd John Murray - 22:33, 122nd Peter Dow - 23:44, 226th Caroline Dow - 28:41and 253rd Andrew Bell - 30:53. In total 319 runners finished. Ten members of Garscube Harriers Junior Section were in action in the Dunren Run Jump Throw meeting at Linwood Sports Complex on Wednesday May 8 with a number of good times recorded in the runs which varied from 60 metres up to 800 metres and also included the long jump. On the same day two Garscube members competed in the Troon 10k race. Jill O’Neil finished in 93rd place in 41 minutes 33 seconds and Ronnie Hamilton came in 265th in 46 minutes 52 seconds. Members of Garscube Harriers Junior Section were in action in the Youth Development League Division 2 at Wishaw on Sunday May 5 competing for East Dunbartonshire in a joint team with Kirkintilloch Olympians and helping the team to achieve 2nd place with 483 points. Garscube man Ben Melby finished in 53rd place out of 193 runners in a time of 2 hours 55 minutes 14 seconds in the Stuc a `Chroin Hill Race over 4 miles with a 5000 feet climb at Strathyre on Saturday May 4. Garscube lady Mhairi McCallum finished in 57th position out of 133 runners in the Tiree 10k race on the same day. She was timed at 59 minutes 28 seconds.
