Garscube athletes among medals at Balloch Castle

A total of 60 junior and senior Garscube Harriers competed in the Dunbartonshire AAA Cross Country Championships held at Balloch Castle Country Park on Saturday - bringing home 5 gold and 7 silver individual and team medals.

The U11 Boys race over a distance of 1 mile, was won by Finlay Ross-Davie in a time of ( 07-50 ), 2nd place went to Domonic Morgan in a time of (07-52 ), 6th Fergus Currie ( 08-49), 7th Marcus Donnelly ( 09-05), 15th Cameron McLean ( 09-50), 17th Mathew Hinks ( 10-35 , 20th Casey Archer (10-58 ).

Finlay,Domonic and Fergus secured the gold team medal with a total of 9 points.

The U11 Girls race over the same distance was won by Anya Maclean in a time of (08-04 ), 5th Lucy Sillars (09-06 ), 14th Beth Trainer (10-12 ), 18th Marinah Murray (10-37 ), Chiara Donnelly ( 09-42 ), Amanda Taylor (10-39). Anya, Lucy and Beth secured the silver team medal with a total of 20.

The U13 Boys race over a distance of 2 Miles was won by Elliot Duff in a time of ( 11-29 ), 2nd place went to Jack Trainer in a time of ( 11-43 ), 4th James Cathro ( 12-34 ), 6th Euan Chapman ( 13-03 ), 8th Stuart Reid (13-33 ), 23rd Adam O’Dell ( 16-57 ), 24th Rory McMillan (17-37).

Elliot,Jack and James secured the Gold team medal with a total of 7.

The U13 Girls race over the same distance 8th Ellie Hines ( 14-33 ), 16th Rachel Chalmers ( 15-16 ), 19th Rubie Imrie ( 15-56 ), 23rd Orla Vennard (17-03).

The U15 Boys race over a distance of 3 miles was won by Cody Stevenson in a time of ( 18-3-27 ), 4th Arun Smith ( 18-53 ), 8th Jack Cuthbertson (19-36 ), 10th Ross Chapman ( 19-59 ), 11th Jamie Bennet ( 20-57 ), 12th Huw Morgan ( 21-01 ), 13th Craig Weston ( 21-27 ), 18th Callum Silcock (23-55 ).

Cody, Arun and Jack secured the Silver team medal with a total of 13.

The U15 Girls over the same distance 4th Sophie Lathan ( 24-18 ), 5th Emily Sillars ( 26-01).

The U17 Girls race also over the same distance Emma Wilson finished in 2nd place in a time of (22-06), 6th Eilidh Chapman ( 23-47 ), 7th Iona Fraser (23-59).

Emma,Eilidh and Iona secured the Silver team medal with a total of 15.

Senior Womans race over a distance of 4 miles 9th Marion Kelly ( 27-22 ), 15th Kathryn Scott ( 27-44 ), !8th Ann White ( 28-37 ), 35th Caroline Dow ( 35-50 ). Senior Mens race over a distance of 6 miles 5th Donald McPartlin ( 33-40 ),

7th Marco Consani ( 33-49 ), 10th John Bell ( 34-04 ), 11th Alex Chalmers (34-12 ), 12th U20 Mathew O’Brien ( 34-20 ), 14th Alan Blail ( 34-29), 31st Barry Queen ( 36-28 ), 34th James Thompson ( 37-14 ), 36th Danny Burns ( 37-18 ), 37th David Dickson ( 37-19 ), 46th Athole Smith ( 38-29 ), 55th John Murray ( 39-22 ), 57th Nicky Parker ( 39-32 ), 75th Jim McAneny (42-02 ), 79th Mark Cathro ( 43-27 ), 84th Alistair Mackay ( 45-33 ), 85th Peter Dow ( 45-40 ).

Donald,Marco,John and Alex secured the silver team medal with a total of 33. Also congratulations and good luck to Alex who has been selected to represent Scotland, next weekend in the British and Irish Masters Cross Country event in Nottingham.

At the Sports Council for Glasgow 2014 Annual Awards Ceremony in the Glasgow City Chambers on Monday 10 November Garscube picked up 5 awards. Club President Jill O’Neil received the award for club of the year - performance. Tony Hall - Volunteer of the year. Robert Cuthbertson - Coach of the year - commended. Marco Consani - Outstanding senior performance at International level - commended. Nicola Hendrie - Outstanding senior performance - Commended.
