MILNGAVIE’S Imogen Bankier and Robert Blair won the mixed doubles French International Badminton Championships in Orleans yesterday.

This is the pairs first title together since the 2007 Scottish International Championships.

The duo defeated England’s Marcus Ellis and Alyssa Lim 21-17 21-17 in the final and gave Scotland additional mixed doubles options for the forthcoming Sudirman Cup campaign.

Bankier and Blair had trailed 16-14 in the first game before reeling off five points in a row to take command of the match. After that they never looked back and took control of the match in the second game.

Bankier had a solid weekend in Orleans also reaching the women’s doubles semi-finals with Bulgaria’s Petya Nedelcheva before losing to Japan’s Rie Eto and Yu Wakita 21-18 14-21 21-9. Eto and Wakita went on to take the title.
