Partick Thistle look for season’s first win against QOS

WHEN you’re down, the only way is up - that’s the philosophical approach Partick striker Kris Doolan is taking to his team’s recent misfortunes.

The Jags had lost their first two league games and had been put out of two cup competitions before Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Hamilton.

Now Doolan hopes the team can use that creditible result against ex-SPL opposition, which lifted them off the bottom of the table, to “kickstart” their campaign.

The feeling around Firhill is that they’ve been slow to get going - perhaps symbolised by the team only getting their official team photos done on Monday (see left) - weeks after they are usually in the can.

But Doolan says they are now raring to go, starting with this Saturday’s home match against Queen of the South: “We’ve been unlucky. We’ve had a couple of games where we’ve given away penalties in the last couple of minutes, I’ve missed a penalty - which is my own fault - but, you just need that wee bit of luck to get over the line.

“Hopefully the Hamilton result’s a kickstart and we’ll go into Saturday’s game with a bit more confidence and get some more points on the board.”
