Two twin sisters from Bearsden have added to their list of sporting successes by gaining international football call-ups.

Although they are only 13, Georgia and Mhairi Crooks have just been selected to represent Scotland in the Scottish Independent Schools Football Association Under-16 squad.

The delighted siblings will be taking part in SISFA squad training this week before their first fixture against England Schools Team at St George’s Park National Football Centre in Staffordshire next Wednesday, December 16.

Georgia and Mhairi are both second year pupils at the High School of Glasgow.

And their football achievement is just one of a number of successes chalked up by the sports-orientated teenagers who, as well as playing football at the High School, are also in the school’s hockey, tennis and badminton teams.

They have recently been selected to join Celtic Women’s under-15s next year, but their ability isn’t just confined to the football pitch.

Along with fellow High School pupils Charlote Sim, also from Bearsden, and Claudie Quinn, from Hyndland, the girls won the Scottish title and reached the final of the Northern Region School Team Tennis Championships at Sunderland, only losing out to a strong Manchester High School quartet.
