PARTICK Thistle face another weekend with no football - and the January transfer window has been as quiet as the pitch recently.

The Jags weren’t in action last week as planned opponents Ayr were on cup duty, and fans will have to wait till Saturday, February 11 when the team heads to Almondvale to take on Livingston in a league match before they can see them again.

One player who won’t be making the trip is midfielder Iain Flannigan (pictured), who has left the club by mutual consent.

He approached manager Jackie McNamara to discuss his future and it was decided it was best for him if he moved on.

A club spokesperson said: “At the age of 24 Iain quite naturally feels that it is important to be playing regular first team football at this stage of his career. It was agreed, therefore, that it was in everyone’s best interests for Iain to be released from his contract.

“We wish Iain every success for the future and thank him for his services during his season and a half at Firhill.”

In addition to Flannigan leaving, there has been one further departure from Firhill, although this one is only temporary.

Defender Johnny Lindsay, who has found first team opportunities limited so far, has joined Second Division Brechin City on loan until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, work is going on behind the scenes to attract a new sponsor after MacB went into administration.
