Five wins in a row put Thistle in strong position to go top of the league

PARTICK Thistle edged closer to regaining the top spot in the league with a 2-0 win over Hamilton at New Douglas Park on Saturday.

The Maryhill men were one nil up at half time after Conrad Balatoni broke the deadlock on 45 minutes. He headed a Ross Forbes’ corner in at the near post.

However a nervous Jags had to wait until the 85th minute to clinch the deal. Thistle sub Christie Elliot scored a great curling shot to put the game beyond doubt.

If Thistle win when they play Cowdenbeath on Tuesday they will go back to the top of the League.
