TWELVE members of Garscube Harriers were in action in the Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10k race on Sunday.
Duncan McKellar was first to finish in 31st place in 41 minutes 25 seconds followed by: 35th Andrew Bradley – 41:50, 57th Diane Clark – 43:09, 61st Norman Baillie – 43:29 (1st MV65), 120th David Esler – 45:43, 123rd Paul Coia – 45:51, 197th Tony Hall – 49.00, 238th Peter Dow – 50:29, 380th Gordon Colligan – 56:15, 441st Caroline Dow – 58:38, 456th Heather McKillop – 59:33, and 514th Derek Buchanan – 1:02:58. A total of 584 runners completed the race.
Three members of the club competed in the Glasgow parkrun 5k at Pollok Park the previous day. They were: 9th Alex Chisholm – 18:20, 112th Stephen Wilson – 22:24 and 286th Andrew Bell – 28:28. In total 447 finished.
On the same day Marco Consani finished in 7th place in 7 hours 44 minutes 14 seconds and Robbie Drummond was 66th out of 416 runners in 9 hours 56 minutes in the Hoka Highland Fling 53 miles race along the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Tyndrum.
Garscube’s Lesley Chisholm was the first lady home in 4th place overall in a time of 10 minutes 08 seconds and Morag Casey came in 49th out of 74 runners in 13:26 in the 3k Race on the Green at Glasgow Green on Friday (April 26).
Garscube girl Catriona Graves finished in 40th place in a time of 18 minutes 18 seconds in the London Mini-Marathon on Sunday (April 21). The previous day at Kirkcaldy High School Garscube boy Elliot Duff competing for Mosshead Primary School took the individual silver medal when finishing in 2nd place in a
time of 6 minutes 03 seconds in the P7 Boys Race at the Scottish Schools Athletic Association’s Primary Schools Cross Country Championships at Kirkcaldy High School.
Elliot led the Mosshead Primary School Team to a bronze medal in the championships, the other members of the team being club mates Daniel McGarrie 16th in 6 minutes 26 seconds and Josh Irvine who finished in 20th place (no time given).
Other members of the club competing for Mosshead Primary were Jack Cuthbertson and James Cathro who finished in 24th and 33rd place respectively.
Finally also on April 20, Diane Clark was the 2nd placed lady when finishing in 16th place overall in 43 minutes 05 seconds in the Deafblind 10k race at Bishopbriggs. Dave Heppell came in 96th out of 109 finishers in 1:03:58 and John Dryden was placed 99th in 1:04:19 while in the 5k race at the same venue.
Morag Casey finished in 3rd place out of 24 runners in 23:08.
