To celebrate former Milngavie and Bearsden Swimming Club members Calum Tait and Jack Thorpe being selected to represent Scotland at this year’s Commonwealth Games, the club invited them back for a special celebration.

Current members met the two young stars on Saturday (May 24), where it all began at the Allander Leisure centre.

Club spokesperson Craig Houston said: “Having grown up in Milngavie and spent around a decade with the club, the Glasgow bound swimmers were invited back to the club to commemorate their fantastic achievement. “Calum and Jack’s preparations for the games are currently in full swing and their time over the next
two months is particularly precious, so we are grateful to both for generously
agreeing to give up their time to join us.”

And he said that everyone connected with the club was delighted to have two former members representing Scotland this summer at the Commonwealth games in Glasgow.

He added: “We are immensely proud to see our ex-swimmers go on to success within the sport and it means a great deal to our club and its current swimmers to have the inspiration of two new role models with which they can closely relate to.”
