This group of Clydeside Orienteers from Bearsden won national titles at the recent Scottish Sprint Orienteering Championships held at St. Andrew’s University.

Alice Wilson (9), a P5 pupil at Mosshead Primary School; Emma Wilson (12), an S1 pupil at Bearsden Academy and Dr David Robertson, along with Amelia Petrie, from Houston who competed in the adult section - all won the Scottish title in their age class.

There were also several near-misses by other members of the club, including silver medals for David’s daughter Lindsay Robertson (12), an S1 pupil at Bearsden Academy, as well as Emma’s older brother Thomas Wilson (14), an S3 pupil at Bearsden Academy) and mother Rachel Wilson.

David said: “Unlike traditional orienteering events, which are held in forests and over rough terrain, sprint orienteering events take place in urban terrain and this year’s Scottish Championships was no exception.

“The courses zig-zagged around the St. Andrew’s University campus with titles won by a combination of split second decision making and fast running.”
