CLYDESDALE HarRIERS athletes took part in two marathons last week.
The first was the Highland Perthshire Marathon which took place in and around Aberfeldy and saw Gerry Montgomery run well to finish as second vet over 50 in 3hrs 18mins. He was followed by Pamela McCrossan, making her debut at the marathon distance, who finished as first lady in 3hrs 24mins.
The second was the Moray Marathon which Paul Carroll won in a brilliant personal best of 2hrs 48mins and followed by Robert O’Neill in 3.09. Paul was also winner of 1st vet over 40.
The previous weekend had three races taking place. The first was the Paisley 10k where new member Alan Dick ran a pb to finish in 39mins 55secs, followed by Marina McCallum in 44.14.
The Drymen Run for Romania 10k had last minute changes to the route making it slightly longer in distance than normal but Gerry Montgomery finishing 5th overall in a time of 42.10. Pamela McCrossan won the ladies race in a time of 44.28 over the hilly course.
For the younger members of the club there was the National Under 16 Age Group Championships at Grangemouth Stadium. Emily Paxton ran well in the 800m heat, but unfortunately couldn’t do enough to go through to the finals, finishing in 2mins 38.40secs. Andrew Hunter competed in the 100m heats to finish 2nd in 12.34, which qualified him to run in the final where he ran well to finish in 12.25. He also ran in the 200m heats where he came 3rd in 24.66, and competed in the Long Jump (5.14m).
