Clydesdale Harriers athletes record good times

A group of Clydesdale Harriers travelled doon the watter to Girvan to compete in the Girvan Half Marathon recently.

Hugh Laverty had an excellent run in the event, finishing as first veteran over 50 in a time of 1hr 29mins 49 secs.

The previous night, in the Irvine AC five miler, David Mitchell finished in a time of 40.50.

The club are always looking for new members.

Training nights are – Tuesdays at St Peter the Apostle High School, meeting at about 6.45pm in the main entrance for both juniors and seniors, and Thursdays – juniors and seniors – taking place at Lussett Park from 7pm onwards for grass sessions.

Also, the main senior session is usually held at East Thompson Car Park (just along from the school).

Training is from 6.45pm and features canal sessions and road sessions on that same night.

Sundays are for seniors only for long runs, meeting at 8.30am opposite the Playdrome.
