Clydesdale athletes tackle hilly course

Clydesdale Harrier Paul Carroll finished 10th in Saturday’s Isle of Skye Half Marathon in a time of 1.20.36 over the extremely hilly course.

Also that day, a little closer to home, was the Garscube Harriers five-mile Foodbank Race which had entrants donating a minimum of £10 worth of foodstuffs instead of paying an entry fee.

In the end, the fastest harrier was Stephen McKee (37.43), followed by Evelyn McKee (40.35).

The previous weekend was the first of three track and field meetings for the CSSAL (Central and South of
Scotland Athletics League).

These meetings are slightly unusual because all age groups from all clubs are represented from the youngest members (Under 11s) to the oldest members (masters which are over 35s).

Last week’s meeting was in Wishaw and all harriers did well in their respective events. The weather was changeable but everyone coped well.

The second meeting is on June 29 at Grangemouth. Anyone interested in taking part please contact Phil Dolan.

The previous weekend had Alan Dick taking part in the Frank Sinclair Memorial 10k in Gourock. He ran well to finish in a time of 41.58.
