Clydesdale athletes compete in ultra race

Clydesdale Harriers Anne Murray and Marina McCallum travelling down to Jedburgh to take part in the Jedburgh 3 Peaks Ultra Race recently.

This was the first race in the Jedburgh Running Festival and at 38 miles it wasn’t for the faint hearted. It had woodland tracks, farm fields, some roads, riverside paths, stiles and lots of stairs. In the middle of the race to test everyone was the steep ascents and descents of the three Peaks. These are in the Eildon Hills near Newton St Boswells.

The weather stayed dry and Anne was first home for the club finishing in a respectable time of 7hrs 16mins 36second and was the sixth female runner to finish the race. She was followed by Marina McCallum in 7hrs 47mmins 3secs (10th female).

Forthcoming races for the club include the Dunbartonshire AAA Cross Country Championships at Balloch Park on November 15, and the West District Cross Country Championships at Linwood on December 6.
