Allander Cyan Men’s Squash Team beat Newlands six 3-2 in the McBean Technology Fourth Division
PHIL Graves was first to play at number four and made light work of his opponent, winning 3-0.
Next up was Ken Findlay at five and although he lost his first game, when he found his feet, his delicate overhead smashes started to fall into place. His 3-1 victory deservedly won him the home man-of-the-match award.
Jeremy Bushell had been promoted to number 3, and came up against a tough opponent, who proved far too strong for Jeremy. Although he fought hard, he never quite got the hang of his opponent’s pace and power and went down 3-0.
Stuart Harvey, playing at one, did well to take a game off his opponent, but lost the remainder to go down 3-1.
With the score level at two each, Chris McGeady seemed unflustered by the palpable pressure on his young shoulders. As the game progressed, Chris seemed to have the upper hand, chasing his equally young and fit opponent around all four corners of the court. The first two games went to Chris, and in the third it reached match point at 14-10, but he eventually triumphed to make it 3-0.
With only five more matches remaining this season, the team are quietly confident they can retain the top slot for the rest of the season.
