Busy couple of weeks for Clydesdale Harrier athletes

A number of Clydesdale Harriers runners were busy over the last few weeks with several races being competed in.

On Sunday in the Cumbernauld 10, Pamela McCrossan finishing fourth female and first veteran in a time of 40mins 35secs.

Last Tuesday, as part of the club championships, Eleven members took part in a 3,000m track event. Fastest was Iain Robertson 10mins 1sec, followed by Robert O’Neill 10.02, Paul Carroll (10.03), Ryan Savage (11.02), Ryan Nelson (11.18), Tony Dolan (11.30), Alan Dick (11.35), Paul McKendry (11.42), Pamela McCrossan (11.57), Marina McCallum (12.24), and Jane Mayor (15.58).

The previous Sunday was the Kilmacolm Half Marathon and 10k - both starting and finishing in Birkmyre Park.

In the half marathon Kevin Farmer had an excellent run to finish in a time of 1hr 22.28mins, followed by Pamela McCrossan (1.32.17 and 2nd female), and Marina McCallum (1.41.37 and 1st veteran).

In the 10k Paul McKendry and Alan Dick had a fight to the end to finish in 40.51 and 41.03 respectively.

The previous weekend was the Kyles 10 miler on the Kyle of Bute. The hilly course had Peter Rudzinski running well to finish in a time of 1.26.35.

Also that weekend was the Glenmore 12 and 24 Hour Races. In the 12 hour Mairi Fox completed an excellent 50.65 miles and was 20th overall, and in the 24 Hour John Fox completed 102.21 miles and finished a brilliant 13th overall.

This Saturday is the Clydestride Ultra (40 miles) which has runners running from the start at Partick Train Station at 9am and finishing at New Lanark over mixed terrain. Several harriers are taking part so the best of luck to them!
