ROWING AWARD . . . Jenny Kirk from Bearsden was presented with the RYA Scotland Instructor of the Year Award by Mike McIntrye, who won gold at the Seoul Olympics.
They met at the organisation’s awards ceremony held at sportscotland’s Inverclyde Sports Centre.
Jenny (25) is a member of Clyde Cruising Club Dinghy Section (Bardowie) and has been sailing for 13 years.
Her interest lies mainly in dinghy sailing but helping other people in the sport seems to be her strongest asset.
Jenny has been volunteering in the sport for 11 years now and has been an instructor for nine of those years.
She said: “Having been involved in sailing for 13 years volunteering for me is all about giving back to the sport, particularly to children.
One of Jenny’s notable achievements was organising her club’s Junior Regatta which last year had the highest turnout of 40 juniors. She helped encourage juniors to take part in the RYA Scotland Volvo Champion Club Trophy at Loch Tummel, managing to help them to retain the Windward Mark Team and individual trophies.
