THE high-flying McCormick brothers from Bearsden were in action again in The Scottish Freestyle Dryslope Championships at Bearsden Ski Club – and came away with a clutch of medals.
Matt (15) – who moved up from the under-16 snowboard age group into the adult category – won gold and his older brother Danny (20) took silver in the skiing event.
Youngest brother Chris (14), in the under-16 skiers category, also won gold – which was a real achievement considering it was his first competitive race after being out for four months with a knee injury.
The event was run by Snowsport Scotland and open to freestyle skiers and snowboarders from across the UK, with a great turn-out on the day.
Danny – who is currently at university in Dundee, where he is studying design – recently took part in The British University Dryslope Championship in Edinburgh and won first place in the ‘Slopestyle’ event for the second consecutive year.
Prior to this he was involved in coaching and demonstrations at the London Ski Show in Earl’s Court.
Meanwhile Matt has moved from being a Junior Elite member of Team GB, to full Team GB status.
Mum Alison said: “This will mean he will have the opportunity to travel with the team and attend their training sessions in Europe, New Zealand and the USA.
“He will first be travelling to Avoriaz in France in a few weeks to do some training and filming with Salomon, who are his snowboard sponsor.”
