Scotland’s Imogen Bankier and Kirsty Gilmour have eased their way into tonight’s quarter-finals at the Yonex Welsh International in Cardiff.
Former world silver medallist and Scottish Open Grand Prix mixed doubles winner Bankier, from Milngavie, and Scottish Open women’s singles runner-up Gilmour had no trouble overcoming England’s Jenny Moore and Viki Williams 21-12 21-12.
Tonight (Friday) they face Australian No. 8 seeds Jacqueline Guan and Gronya Somerville for a place in the last four as they aim to prove they are real women’s doubles medal prospects at next year’s Commonwealth Games. The semi-finals and finals are tomorrow.
