Bankier and Adcock beaten in Paris semi-final

OLYMPIAN Imogen Bankier and Chris Adcock’s fine run at the Yonex French Open came to an end in the mixed doubles semi-finals in Paris on Saturday.

The seventh seeds went down for the third time in a row to top seeds and world No 1 pair Xu Chen and Ma Jin. The Chinese pair won 21-14, 21-19 in 40 minutes and went on to win their second title in two weeks after winning the Yonex Denmark Open in Odense last Sunday.
But Bankier from Milngavie and her Adcock made them fight for victory in the second game where they led 11-8 at the interval and responded when the Chinese moved ahead 15-13 to draw level at 16-16.
They also saved a match point at 20-18 before the Chinese clinched victory on their second match point.
Despite defeat the Anglo-Scottish pair this week recaptured the kind of form which took them into the world’s top 10 last season and brought them a silver medal at the Yonex BWF World Championships at
Wembley in August last year.
