BADMINTON ace Imogen Bankier made it three wins in as many months when she won the Italian International mixed doubles in Rome recently.

The 22-year-old Milngavie star and English partner Chris Adcock were seeded sixth going into the event and beat Dutch pair Jacco Arends and Selena Piek in the quarter finals and Poles Lukasz Moren and Natalia Pocztowiak in the semis to book their place in the final.

They cruised to a comfortable victory beating Estonian Gert Kunka and Swede Amanda Hogstrum 21-14 21-15 in just 25 minutes.

Imogen and Chris, who had already reached the semi-final of the Bitburger tournament in September in their first tournament together, have now won three events in a row.

They had success at the Yonex Irish International at the beginning of December and previously the Bank of Scotland International Championships at Glasgow’s Kelvin Hall in November.

The new pairing are now up ranked 60th in the world and their Italian win will give them a further ranking boost when the new lists are announced next weeks.
