Allander Squash first team played local Maryhill rivals SSRC 3rd and secured a 4-1 win away from home.
Jeremy Bushell and Phil Graves at position 3 and 5 had an uncanny knack of losing vital points in the deciding final game, and suffering regular 3-2 defeats. Both fought back after slipping to 2:0. Phil saved a couple of match points in the third game and went on to win the next 2 games.
Meanwhile Jeremy won a close third game and the fourth with ease but in the last game found himself 12-14 down. He saved one match point and at the critical stage won the next 3 points to win 3:2.
At number 4 Ian Turnbull was just a couple of points off victory in each of the 3 games, but sunk to a 3:0 defeat to a higher ranked opponent.
Scott Hay lost the first game but came back to cruised to a typical clinical 3:1 victory.
Finally Chris McGeady had little difficulty in making it a fourth match for the Allander, though he did delay the inevitable, carelessly throwing the first game away. He soon made amends and rounded off a good night for the Allander with a 3:1 win.
