Garscube man Alan Blair finished just outside of a podium place at his first attempt in the Strathclyde park 5k on Saturday.
He was timed at 17mins 18secs and a total of 208 runners took part in the race.
Meanwhile, in the Glasgow Parkrun 5k at Pollok Park, Stuart Irvine came 237th place in 26:45 and Derek Buchanan was 352nd out of 435 competitors in 30:55.
In the Polaroid Dumbarton 10k last Thursday the first Harrier home was Nic Heaney who came in 12th in 34mins 24secs. He was followed by: Alex Chalmers – 35:05 and Danny Burns.
There was a good turnout of 33 junior club members for the Dunren Open Graded Meeting at Linwood Sports Complex on Wednesday May 29. A selection of results are: 100 Metres: Heat 1 - 4th Callum McKay - 12.10; Heat 4 - 1st Kiara Galloway - 14.80, 5th Elliot Duff - 15.60; Heat 5 - 3rd Josh Irvine - 15.40, 6th Kirsty Murray - 16.50; Heat 6 - 1st Zoe Byron - 15.70.
Also on May 29 Garscube lady Alison Condie finished in 120th place in the Kilpatricks Hill Race over six miles, climbing 1,400 feet, in 1hr 25mins 15secs.
Three Garscube Harriers members were in action in the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday May 26. John Murray finished in 339th place in 3 hours 14 minutes 20 seconds, Louise Webster came in 2221st in 3 hours 52 minutes 34 seconds and Anita Neilson was placed 5954th in 4 hours 46 minutes 26 seconds. Six Garscube Harriers ladies turned out for the Mull of Kintyre Half Marathon at Campbeltown on the same day. Fiona MacCormick was first to finish in 60th place in 1 hour 44 minutes 00 seconds followed by: 69th Vicky Moore 1:46:11, 96th Isobel Martin - 1:53:04, 101st Jennifer Duru - 1:53:18, 118th Mary Cox - 1:57:49 and 137th Sheina Gilmour - 2:02:52. In the Mull of Kintyre 10k race at the same venue John Dryden finished in 154th place in 56:32. Garscube’s Catriona Graves put in a fine performance over a challenging uphill course to finish in 2nd place in the European Trial Junior Women’s Hill Race at Keswick on Saturday 25th May in a time of 26 minutes 44 seconds. As a consequence Catriona has been selected for the GB & NI Team in the European Mountain Running Championships at Borovets, Bulgaria on 6th July and will return to Keswick with the Scottish Team on Sunday 9th June to compete in the Karrimor Trail Challenge 5.5k race. The West District Track and Field Championships were held at the Ayrshire Athletics Arena, Kilmarnock on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th May 2013. Three medals were won by members of Garscube Harriers. Two Gold Medals by Alastair Stanley winner of the Under 20 Men’s 400 metres hurdles in 58.65 seconds & the Under 20 Men’s 3000 metres steeplechase in 10 minutes 23.91 seconds and a Silver Medal by Callum McKay, 2nd in the Under 16 Boys 400 metres in 54.95 seconds.
