Partick Thistle are gearing up for their fourth round Scottish Cup tie when they play Hamilton Accies at Firhill on Saturday.
Cup encounters tend to throw up surprises and the squad will be hoping they can turn home advantage into goals. The last time the two teams met in the league, earlier this month Thistle were bitterly disappointed to come away from New Douglas Park with just a point after finishing 3-3. The Jags had been 2-0 up going into the break, but a series of defensive errors cost them badly.
Since then the Firhill outfit has worked hard on plugging the holes in their defence and despite last week’s 1-0 penalty defeat to St Mirren, are confident they can progress to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.
Meanwhile winger Steven Lawless has been voted the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month for October. He earned the honour after his fast footwork and creativity helping to break down a stubborn St Mirren and ensure the Jags left with at least a point away to Hamilton Accies. He fought off some competition from goalie Scott Fox, Christie Elliott, Jordan McMillan and Stephen O’Donnell.
