Partick Thistle defender Aaron Muirhead has been suspended for an extra two games at a Scottish Football Association disciplinary tribunal after head-butting Queen of the South’s Chris Higgins in Sunday’s Ramsdens Cup final.

The 22-year-old hit out at the Doonhamers’ captain when he lost his temper following a crucial penalty miss deep into extra time.

He was sent off and received an immediate two match ban for violent conduct.

Although The Jags equalised a short time later they lost in a penalty shoot-out.

At the tribunal in Hampden on Thursday Muirhead was told he had breached rule 201 of the SFA’s judical panel protocol.

He has already missed Wednesday’s win over Morton, but will now also miss the matches with Airdrie United, Raith Rovers, Falkirk and Dunfermline.
