PARENTS, teachers and young people are going to be able to have their say on the future of primary schools in Milngavie and Bearsden in a series of workshops being held soon.

There is going to be a major shake-up of the primary schools estate throughout East Dunbartonshire to tackle falling school rolls and modernise schools.

The council’s education convener, Councillor Eric Gotts, has already warned that some schools may face closure - other options include almagamations, refurbishments, new schools and joint campuses.

The consultation meetings will take place in Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch and Milngavie.

Information will be provided at meetings about each of the geographical areas followed by break out sessions to discuss and come up with possible options for the future of the school estate.

Participants will then get the opportunity to ask questions.

Dates and venues for the workshops - Bishopbriggs Academy, Monday, September 3 from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, Kirkintilloch High School, Thursday, September 6 from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, Douglas Academy, Milngavie, Monday, September 10 from 6.30pm to 9.30pm and Bearsden Academy, Wednesday, September 12 from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
