They’re hired - 12 youngsters started work for East Dunbartonshire Council this week as modern Apprentices.
The new employees all aged between 17 and 21 were welcomed by council leader Rhondda Geekie this week as they embarked on their two year programme of training, work experience and studying. In total 122 young people applied for the scheme.
Six will work in the areas of business administration, two in customer services, one in ICT and three in horticulture/greenspace at the same time as completing an SVQ during the first year.
Councillor Geekie said: “I’m delighted that we are welcoming 12 enthusiastic, bright and ambitious young people to our team. They will be given support, help and advice over the next two years and I urge them to grasp every opportunity.”
