Women get Empowered in East Dunbartonshire

Women are to get Empowered in Milngavie and Bearsden.

Empowered is the new name for East Dunbartonshire’s anti-domestic violence partnership and was the brainchild of Heather McKelvie from Bishopbriggs.

She came up with it after a competition was launched in the summer to rename the Multi Agency Partnership Violence Against Women, making it a

name the women could easily remember.

Council Leader Rhondda Geekie said: “Heather’s new slogan really captures the work that the council and our partners do to help prevent gender based

violence and support women who experience it.”

Empowered brings together a number of key agencies including the council, Women’s Aid, Rape Crisis, Police Scotland, East Dunbartonshire Association

for Mental Health, Carers Link and Ceartas Advocacy.
