Over 120 exciting works by members of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists are currently on show at Milngavie’s Lillie Art Gallery.

The new team leader at the gallery, James Higgins, is with artists Jean Thomson and Evelyn Anderson at the opening of the exhibition on Friday.

There is a wide variety or art on display from oil paintings and watercolours, to ceramics, glass and jewellery.

The Glasgow Society of Women Artists, originally called the Glasgow Society of Lady Artists, was established in 1882 by eight female artists and art teachers. All the founding members had studied at Glasgow School of Art. The current membership of the Society is drawn from a wide geographical spread across Scotland.

The exhibition runs until November 11 and the gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am until 1pm and 2pm until 5pm. Admission is free. (Ref: m11721)
