A nine-man team from Windyhill Golf Club have won the Jessiman Trophy — the third time the club has done so in the last three years.
The team of James McCracken, Scott Cochran, Brian Scott, Campbell Craig, Andy Currie, Raymond Lowe, Andy Miller, Derek Holms and Stephen Mullen edged out Lenzie Golf Club in the knock-out contest played by three holes.
The Jessiman Trophy is open to all teams players with a handicap of between six and twelve, and who have qualified to play in the annual Donald Cameron League.
The event took place at the neutral venue of Bearsden Golf club last Sunday and the final was the culmination of play throughout the whole season between all the clubs in the league.
This latest victory means Windyhill has now clinched the Jessiman Trophy a total of six times since the tournament began.
Danny Welsh, general manager at the club, said: “We are all delighted for the team.
“To play in the trophy members have to be of a reasonably good standard.
“This also reflects well on the club as it is a prestigious trophy to win.
“Our members come from a diverse background and we are keen to promote the game to as large an audience as possible at the club which has some excellent facilities.”
