WITH the Olympic Games on the horizon, three national ballet companies have teamed up to put on a sport-themed production.
The Herald has teamed up with Scottish Ballet, National Dance Company Wales and English National Ballet to give away two pairs of tickets worth £50 for their world premiere tour of ‘Dance GB’.
‘Dance GB’ will honour the Olympic competitors with three brand new, specially-commissioned works from leading choreographers:
n ‘Run For It’ choreographed by Martin Lawrance and performed by Scottish Ballet;
n ‘Dream’ with Christopher Bruce, performed by National Dance Company Wales;
n ‘And the Earth Shall Bear Again’ with Itzik Galili, performed by English National Ballet.
The ballet organisations have decided to join forces for the first time for this ground-breaking national celebration of dance inspired by the London 2012 Games.
The productions also boast a stunning sculptural installation by Turner Prize-winning artist Martin Boyce.
‘Dance GB’ is a fantastic opportunity to see three world-class dance companies performing on the same stage as they tour Glasgow, Cardiff and London during June and July.
Albert Einstein famously declared “dancers are the athletes of God” and it’s hard to argue when they are as amazing as ‘Dance GB’.
They will be performing in Glasgow’s Theatre Royal over five days from Tuesday, June 19-23, at 7.30pm, with an extra performance at 2pm on the last day.
The winners of the tickets for this unique production will be valid for the performance of Wednesday, June 20.
For your chance to win a pair of tickets, make sure you get your copy of this week’s Milngavie and Bearsden Herald, which is in shops now.
