EAST Dunbartonshire Council kickstarted a fundraising drive for the Help for Heroes charity this week.
As part of this there will be 10 ‘Hero Bears’ in military uniforms at a number of council owned properties, including Brookwood Library and Allander Leisure centre in Bearsden.
People who would like the chance of winning one can do so by entering a £1 raffle. As well as the Hero Bears, staff at the council are hosting a Hallowe’en party in Lenzie Public Hall on October 28.
All the money raised will go to the Help the Heroes Appeal, which was chosen by Provost Eric Gotts, and will be used to support wounded personnel from the armed forces throughout Britain. The charity also supports the families of the wounded and casualties of war.
Provost Gotts said: “This is a very worthwhile charity and I would ask that you offer your support to raise as much money as possible.
“All the money received will go straight to the charity and I know that it will help our wounded and the families of members of the armed forces who lose their lives at war.”
