CHRISTMAS kicks-off officially in Milngavie on Saturday when the festive lights are turned on.

There will be a host of fun for all the family during the day, leading up to the 5pm switch-on.

From noon onwards there will be a fairground, live bands and food stalls selling all sorts of festive fayre.

School pupils will also have a chance to take part in a great competition. All they have to do is look at the shop displays in the windows of participating stores and spot which one of them contains a glaring error.

Forms are available now from Milngavie Bookshop and Townhead Carpets on Mugdock Road, and there are book tokens worth £15, £10 and £5, courtesy of the bookshop, up for grabs for the first, second and third prize winners.

All completed forms should be handed into Townhead Carpets and Milngavie Bookshop.

The lights will be switched on by STV weatherman Sean Batty.
