A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with alleged sneak-in thefts from churches in Milngavie and Bearsden.

The churches allegedly targeted were New Kilpatrick Parish and St Andrews in Bearsden, and St Andrews Scottish Episcopal in Milngavie.

A 30-year-old man and 30-year-old woman, both from Glasgow, have been arrested.

The property stolen included electrical goods and personal items belonging to members of the public. Efforts are ongoing to trace these items to return them.

Detective Sergeant MacGregor from Kirkintilloch Police Office, said: “These arrests are another example of the continued efforts by the officers of East Dunbartonshire to keep the people of this community and their property safe.

“These crimes were carried out during the day at places of worship and we are delighted that the individuals concerned have been identified. I would like to thank the members of the public who helped the officers involved bring the investigation to a successful conclusion.”
