Trails and tales survey

AN initiative to set up 11 new outdoor trails in East Dunbartonshire is still looking for the views of locals before a final decision is made.

East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust is planning to create the trails across the area as part of the popular ‘Trials and Tales’ project.

Since July, four consultation events have been held, but the final two are planned for later this month.

Over the last two years, hundreds of people from across the authority came together at events to share their stories and objects from the past. The outdoor trails will help to capture and immortalise those stories from local history for future generations.

Trust Chair, Councillor Anne Jarvis, is hopeful this latest appeal will attract some new blood.

She said: “Please consider coming along to hear about the findings from the Trails and Tales community activity programme, even if you didn’t manage to be a part of it. Developing these outdoor trails and deciding their location will be an exciting opportunity for people to contribute to this popular and fascinating local heritage project.”

The events will be fun and relaxed with refreshments provided. The details are as follows:

Kirkintilloch and Lenzie - Tuesday 20 September from 7-9pm in William Patrick Library; Bishopbriggs and Auchinairn - Wednesday 28 September from 7-9pm, Bishopbriggs Library.
