Thumbs up for new Milngavie restaurant

PERMISSION has been granted for the creation of a new restaurant in Mingavie.

East Dunbartonshire Council’s planning board agreed to allow a premises, formerly occupied by Sharp’s Kitchens on Main Street, to be turned into a dining venue.

Councillors considered two objections, one from Milngavie Community Council.

Objectors feared that smells coming from the new restaurant would bother people living nearby and worried that further burdens will be put on car parks.

They also claimed it is too close to the Talbot Arms and that Milngavie does not need another licensed premises.

Objectors said they were against the new restaurant having a carry-out facility.

However, the planning board voted to grant the application, noting that carry-out provision is not part of the plan.
