A BEARSDEN woman who started a new career as a children’s writer a few years ago launched her second book at Milngavie Bookshop on Saturday.

Gayle Clark (60) wrote her first and second books ‘Monty’s Big Surprise’ and ‘Monty and the Pudding’ eight years ago at a creative writing course at Kilmardinny Arts Centre in Bearsden but it took her a while to publish them as she didn’t know how to do it.

Gayle, a former nurse, says she was inspired to produce the books by her “ever expanding family”.

When she attended the creative writing course she didn’t have any grandchildren and now she has eight ranging from eight months old to eight years old. As they grew up she was determined to give something “real and tangible” to her grandkids.
