TWO local groups have received a cash boost from the Glasgow Airport FlightPath Fund.
The Friends of Milngavie Heritage Centre was awarded £2,000. The money will allow the group to showcase Milngavie’s history by purchasing exhibition stands and displays.
Bearsden Amateur Swimming Club received £1,600.
The money will be used to buy new swimming and training equipment for youngsters aged seven to 17.
Milngavie MSP Gil Paterson congratulated the local organisations on their funding awards and praised them for all the work they do in the community. He said: “I am delighted that these clubs have received a welcome cash boost.
“The Friends of Milngavie Heritage Centre volunteers do a marvellous job of promoting and safeguarding Milngavie’s rich heritage and this award is well-deserved.
“The swimming club – again led entirely by volunteers – does an invaluable job in teaching and coaching our young people in swimming.
“I hope this award will help them strive for gold with their new equipment at a time when all of Scotland’s swimmers look towards the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.”
