A TALENTED arTIST is enjoying a brush with success after scooping a top honour in a national competition.
Zoe Loughrey’s painting of butterflies and flowers beat thousands of hopefuls to win the special merit award in the ‘How does your garden grow?’ nursery category of the Tesco Bank Art competition for schools.
The Killearn Primary Nursery pupil (4) got the chance to see her painting go on display in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery earlier this month.
Her award-winning artwork will be displayed at the gallery before being exhibited around Scotland.
Margaret Campbell, from Killearn Primary Nursery, said: “We are over the moon.
“It’s the first time the nursery has been part of the competition so it was such a lovely surprise.
“Zoe was beaming when she found out and so were her family. We’re very proud of her.”
This year’s contest, which is run in association with the National Portrait Gallery, received over 6,000 entries from across Scotland.
Benny Higgins, Tesco Bank’s chief executive, pictured above with Zie, saidsaid: “I’d like to personally congratulate Zoe. The artwork which is now on display in the National Portrait Gallery shows the amazing talent the children of Scotland have.”
