SOMEONE is diagnosed with breast cancer every ten minutes in the UK and that’s why two local ladies have decided to raise money for a local breast cancer charity.
Diana Johnston from Bearsden and Jackie Young from Milngavie are going to hold a Strawberry Tea at Bearsden Hall on Saturday, August 18 from 12.30 to 3.30pm.
There will also be face painting and a magician for children, a raffle and tombola, and a variety of stalls selling home baking, flowers, fruit and vegetables, handbag jewellery, jewellery and cards.
Tickets will cost £3 for sults and £1 for children and will be available at the door.
Diana said: “We want to promote the excellent work of Breast Cancer Care with those who face the terrifying experience of a breast cancer diagnosis.
“They provide free support and information and every penny raised by events like ours will help them to continue their great work.
“We hope lots of people come along and we’d urge others to hold their own events.
“It’s an easy and fun way to raise money for the charity and the perfect excuse to get together with friends, family or colleagues.
“From the comfort of your own front room or back garden, to the local park or office canteen, anywhere goes for a Strawberry Tea.
“You can turn your next book club meeting or tennis tournament into a Strawberry Tea event.
“All you need to do is buy or bake some cakes, add some British strawberries, put the kettle on and away you go. A donation from your guests will make a real difference to the lives of people affected by breast cancer.”
Breast Cancer Care’s Strawberry Tea campaign - sponsored by Seasonal Berries, which represents the strawberry growers of Britain - runs from June 1 to August 31 and raises money to support the 50,000 people who are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK.
